Ever get that urge to move when you don’t have to? Ever get that urge to scream when you have no mouth? Ever get that urge to uncover Truth when there is none?
Akathisia, the uncontrollable movement disorder. It is the urge when you feel it in your bones that you have to move. Flick your finger, wag your foot, propel your arm, swing back and forth, get up and walk. Because you have to. Because you have no control over it. You move. Knowing very well nothing comes out of it. Knowing the urge, the itch is going nowhere. You do it anyway.
Now apply this to existence.
The perpetual urge to do something in the nothing. The need to understand everything when you are aware of your own cognitive limitations. Knowing that we know nothing and still persisting. The Will to Power is hell. (sorry, Nietz)
The mad-lad Picasso once said, “Everything you can imagine is real.” My interpretation is that everything we can imagine can be translated into physicality or object. Now, imagine it’s a year in time. We have uncovered the Truth. Dismantled reality. We have found the answer to why there is something rather than nothing. There is no longer nothing. We understand everything. What would that be like? You cannot imagine this, can you?
Humanity suffers a form of intellectual akathisia. We Will to Power than to Inertia (I made up Will to Inertia). Why? Because there is something. So we reciprocate. You cannot virtually do nothing in something so we do something and that something qualifies as nothing because we do not understand anything. It’s a strange condition.
When you cannot imagine nothing, you cannot also imagine the absence of nothing. But “nothing” is a concept. An experience of the qualia.
Qualia is,
ineffable – they cannot be communicated, or apprehended by any means other than direct experience.
intrinsic – they are non-relational properties, which do not change depending on the experience's relation to other things.
private – all interpersonal comparisons of qualia are systematically impossible.
directly or immediately apprehensible by consciousness – to experience a quale is to know one experiences a quale, and to know all there is to know about that quale.
(Wikipedia)
Qualia is when you think, “damn, does my husband see the same red as I do?” “How do you describe red?” “What is redness?”
Is experience truly subjective? No, “subject” is only a construed experience.
Qualia creates experience, experience creates objects.
So I think it goes like,
Qualia – experience – subject – object
There are things in life that can be literally surmised to “it is what it is”. The ultimate Axiom that there is “something” rather than “nothing”. Consciousness and identity. Dasein. We collectively agree that A is A and now we are all in existential akathisic hell, perpetually and uncontrollably doing something and never knowing.
TLDR; I literally invented mental akathisia
